Activities
As envisaged in the objectives the Human Care Foundation has been working in various fields for the betterment of society, especially the communities with insufficient resources. The Foundation is working for the health, economic and educational issues.
Medical Camps
Various medical camps have been organised at different places in Delhi. A team of doctors from All India Institute of Medical Sciences and some physicians from other parts of the city are providing free services to the communities. The medicines were collected from various physicians across the city from their ‘free sample’ collections.
Community Lunches and education about the food habits
The Foundation aims to provide the balanced nutrition to the weaker section of the society. The Foundation is working towards the awareness about this objective. The people who attend the lunches are provided information about the role of balanced diet in prevention of various health problems. They are also made aware of the role of micronutrients in the management of deficiency of various diet related conditions. The role of oral hygiene, dietary fibre, green leafy vegetable and fruits is highlighted. People are also made aware of the bad effect of junk foods.
Career Counselling
The Foundation organised a career counselling camp for the poor students of Delhi in association with MARGDARSHAN (a prominent NGO working in the field of education for the downtrodden children). Approximately seventy children from different parts of Delhi and National Capital Territory Region participated in the exercise. The response of the students was very encouraging. They suggested to expand the exercise to other parts of country and to include the other areas like banking, insurance, foreign languages, business, management, computer (hardware and software) etc.
Cultural Promotion
The Foundation sponsored a cultural eve in association with ‘NAADAURA’ (a music group working in the field of music and art for promotion of fast depleting rural folklore). The first ever programme on classical vocal and jugalbandi of different instruments was held in Poorv Sanskrit Kendra, Laxmi Nagar District Centre. The various artists from Banaras Gharana presented their compositions. The event was attended and inaugurated by Vidushi Krishna Bisht, Ex. Dean Delhi University.
ECO CLUB and Awareness Programme:
Human Care Foundation has started a unique programme for the healthy environment in city. The Local children above age of 5 years have been trained in waste management specially related to the household kachra. They have been trained to segregate it in to bio degradable and non bio degradable/recyclable materials. They will be further training their parents, neighbour and school mates in effective disposal of household kachra. They will also make aware the local ragpickers and safaiwala`s about the use of bio degradable and non bio degradable/recyclable materials. The children of eco club started a new activity on world environment day on 5th June, 2007. They themselves arranged the sampling from the government nursery at Bhairon Marg, Delhi. They have prepared, composed and performed a Nukkad Natak on environmental awareness. The local people appreciated the efforts of children, as their participation in environmental preservation will go long way and our planet earth can be made better place to live.
Vocational and Computer Training:
Human Care Foundation is running a computer training programme in association with Lal Bahadur Shastri Computer Insititute, New Delhi for the slum, village and marginalized children. The training has benefited large number of children at very affordable cost.
Income Generation Programme:
A unique programme is being initiated for the employment of disabled persons and poor destitute women. The goods manufactured and prepared by them are being offered to the public sector and private sector. Other programme will be vocational skilled training, tools and machinery repairing. This programme will target school drop-outs and poor children of society.
Programmes on Special Days:
The Foundation is actively organizing and participating in national and international day events from time to time. The active members of the Foundation participated in ‘No Tobacco Day’ held in Institute of Human Behaviour and Allied Sciences, Delhi. Various activities were organized by the HCF’s Eco Club on World Environment Day in form of plantation of tree samplings and Nukkad Natak for the awareness of masses.
